Prashant Shah, a senior disciple of Padma Bhushan Smt. Kumudini Lakhia, is one of the very few critically acclaimed male performer - choreographer residing in the New York city. Prashants virtuosity in Kathak technique enables him to perform a vast repertoire with masculine grace without any flowery affectations, makes him one of the outstanding male dancer of his genre today. He is also the first recipient of SANGEET NATAK AKADEMI YUVA PURASKAR [ National award ] established by President of India in the name of Ustaad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for Kathak dance. Prashant attempts on his new solo and group dance choreographies mainly in Kathak dance form but not limiting its aesthetics and creativity just to the Kathak technique. Infact, he explores various movements from other world dance forms in his works to present under his company "Sole2Soul Dance Creations".
Prashant feels fortunate having being associated with Kumiben at Kadamb for his constant growth as a student, teacher, performer and choreographer. During his residency months in Ahmedabad every year for about four to five months a year, Prashant finds himself priviliged to be blessed by Kumiben for her continuous guidance, support and training at Kadamb and also be part of her prestigious Kadamb performing unit.
